QC Fails

Audio/Video/Metadata Fails

All QC fails go through a review process before being available for PMs to flag to partner.

Until fails appear in hqc_fail_for_followup there is no action to be made by PMs.

Video, Audio and Metadata based fails will appear in the above view when the following conditions are met:

  • foo_status is hqc_failed AND qc_fail_review is checked AND ONE OF THE BELOW:
  • last_rejection_follow_up is EMPTY
  • last_rejection_follow_up has a date of BEFORE 7 days ago

NOTE: This view does not expose GCD or NENT fails.

  • NENT fails will have a ticket raised automatically and no action is needed from PMs.
  • GCD fails will need to be rejected via GCD Tracker using the source asset timecodes. These will also need to be added to the agenda.

Once a fail drops into the followup view, it is ready to be followed up on (surprisingly).

Using the QC Fails template, the required information can be copied across. There are separate tabs for TV and Movies.

The fields are as follows:

  • Series Name/Feature Name
  • Season Number (TV only)
  • Episode Number (TV Only)
  • Comment (as pasted from the foo_status_message field)
  • Filename (as pasted from the source_file_name field)
  • Captions (as pasted from the source_cc_field IF PRESENT)

Once populated, the table can then be copied and pasted into an email on the appropriate MO chain.

Once email has been sent, last_rejection_follow_up field MUST be updated with the current date.

Art Fails

Art fails are flagged by asset coordinators and will alert in Slack (ops-pm channel) and full details can be found in artwork_fail_for_followup.

Art fails will appear in the above view when the following conditions are met:

  • artwork_status is qc_fail AND ONE OF THE BELOW:
  • art_eta_chased is EMPTY
  • art_eta_chased has a date of BEFORE 7 days ago

NOTE: This view WILL expose GCD fails; these should be raised directly with Sam.

Using the QC Fails template, the required information can be copied across. There is a separate tab for Art.

The fields for art are minimal:

  • Series/Feature Title
  • Comment (as pasted from the art_comments field)

Once populated, the table can then be copied and pasted into an email on the appropriate MO chain.

Once email has been sent, art_eta_chased field MUST be updated with the current date.

Fail Best Practices

  • Check across both views artwork_fail_for_followup and hqc_fail_for_followup when flagging fails to a partner.
  • TV, Movies and Art tables can be pasted in the same email if applicable.
  • Check the stand up views for any current fails outstanding for the partner in order to keep all fails together if new ones arise. Remember to update chase/follow up date fields.
  • Art fails can be found under artwork_fail_for_standup
  • Video/Audio/Metadata fails can be found under hqc_fail_for_standup
  • If a series/season is still going through QC, hold off on flagging fails until the entire series/season has been completed to avoid confusion.

Overall, QC fails should be raised to partners first thing in the morning. This allows time for fails from the previous day to be reviewed by senior management and any changes to messages made.
