Overview¶
Due to the volume of material that is to be processed for GCD (Paramount's Global Content Distribution), the content is handled slightly differently to that of standard media orders.
As we basically need to accept the source material in whatever build it is supplied to us in, because of this each season of each series is effectively treated as an onboarding exercise. This is the reason why source acquisition is looked after by the projects team.
The life of a media order for GCD content is something like this:
- The media order is ingested into Arnold per any other media order
- With the media order ingested, the media order records need to be linked to the associated episode records within the GCD tracker base
- Technical projects will now initiate onboarding the series/seasons via the GCD project managers
- Once test assets have been approved, hopefully, it won't be too long before we start receiving full delivery
- Once the source assets are received they need to be prepped for use within the standard Pluto workflow. This normally consists of logging top/tail trims, closing commercial blacks that are longer than two seconds long, and mapping the stereo audio
- After the source asset has been logged, they will need to be submitted for transcode. This will either be for a passthrough file creation of a mezzanine and proxy
- Depending on the localisation requirements, after the proxy has been generated, a conform request may be needed
- Once conformed assets are ready, they can be linked to the media order record per any other order/partner
