Bereavement Policy

This policy is provided for guidance only. It does not form part of any employee's contract of employment and may be amended or withdrawn by FooEngine Limited at any time.

FooEngine recognises that the death of a family member, partner, or someone close can be extremely difficult. This policy explains how the company will support employees during bereavement.

Immediate Time Off

If you experience a bereavement:

  • You may take up to two weeks of paid compassionate leave as standard.
  • Additional time off may be agreed where circumstances require it.
  • Bereavement leave does not reduce your holiday entitlement.

Notification

When you feel able, please inform your line manager of the bereavement. No formal details will be required beyond what you are comfortable sharing.

Bereavement leave should be recorded in Sense HR under Compassionate Leave once you are able to do so.

Support During Bereavement

Depending on individual circumstances, FooEngine may:

  • Allow extended paid or unpaid leave
  • Agree a phased or reduced-hours return to work
  • Temporarily adjust workload or responsibilities

Support will be agreed sensitively on a case-by-case basis.

Return to Work

When you are ready to return:

  • Your manager will check in to discuss any adjustments needed
  • Further time off can be discussed if returning proves difficult

There is no expectation to return before you feel able.

All discussions regarding bereavement will be handled with sensitivity and respect.
